Frequently Asked Questions about coaching

Please contact me if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Coaching is a collaborative process that helps individuals achieve personal and professional goals through guided support, accountability, and strategy development.

Coaching focuses on goal-setting, personal development, and future-oriented strategies, while therapy often addresses mental health issues and past experiences. Coaching is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment.

My coaching approach is a collaborative process designed to help you achieve your personal and professional goals. Here's how it typically works:

1.Initial Consultation:

  • Assessment: I will assess your current situation, challenges, and goals.
  • Goal Setting: Together, we will define clear, achievable goals.

2. Session Structure:

  • Regular Meetings: Coaching sessions are usually held weekly or bi-weekly, typically over the phone or via video call (sometimes in person).
  • Duration: Sessions typically last between 45 minutes to an hour.

3. Action Plans:

  • Strategy Development: I will help you develop actionable strategies and plans to achieve your goals.
  • Homework: You may be given tasks or exercises to complete between sessions to reinforce learning and progress.

4. Accountability and Support:

  • Regular Check-Ins: I will provide ongoing support and accountability, helping you stay on track.
  • Feedback: Constructive feedback will be provided to help you refine your approach and overcome obstacles.

5. Progress Evaluation:

  • Review: Periodically, we coach will review your progress towards your goals.
  • Adjustments: Plans and strategies may be adjusted as needed to ensure continuous progress.

6. Completion:

  • Achievement: Once your goals are achieved, the coaching relationship can be concluded.
  • Future Planning: Some clients choose to continue their relationship with me to set new goals or address ongoing challenges.

Coaching is a dynamic and personalized process that empowers you to make significant and lasting changes in your life.

My coaching approach, grounded in human and organizational psychology, is all about understanding your unique needs and helping you grow, both personally and professionally. We start with a thorough assessment to set clear, achievable goals together. Then, I create a tailored plan just for you. Our regular sessions will focus on practical steps, with ongoing feedback and homework to keep you on track. We'll work on building your self-awareness, resilience, and interpersonal skills, considering both your personal and work life. We'll regularly check in to see how you're doing and adjust as needed. My goal is to support your growth and help you achieve lasting success and well-being.

With a robust blend of academic credentials and real-world experience, I am well-equipped to be your personal leadership coach. I hold a bachelor's in organizational communication, a master's in organizational leadership, a master's level certification in Human Resource management, and a doctorate in human and organizational psychology. With over 20 years of combined experience as a small business leader, an executive, and a consultant, I have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities leaders face. As a psychology professor, I have honed my ability to translate complex psychological concepts into practical strategies for personal and professional growth. This unique combination of education and hands-on leadership experience allows me to offer insightful, evidence-based coaching tailored to help you achieve your potential.

During a coaching session, you can expect a structured conversation focused on your goals, challenges, and progress. I will provide guidance, feedback, and accountability to help you stay on track.

Coaching is right for you if you are motivated to make changes, set and achieve goals, and are open to feedback and accountability. An initial consultation can help determine if coaching is a good fit for your needs.

100%! What happens in our sessions stays in our sessions, just like seeing a therapist.

Typically, my coaching relationships last anywhere from three to six months, though some may continue for a year or more. The length of the coaching relationship is often tailored to my client's specific objectives, the complexity of the issues being addressed, and the progress being made. Sessions are usually held weekly or bi-weekly to provide consistent support and accountability.

The time that your coaching process takes is also impacted by your commitment and openness to your process.
